40: He who gives honor to you gives honor to me; and he who gives honor to me gives honor to him who sent me.
41: He who gives honor to a prophet, in the name of a prophet, will be given a prophet’s reward; and he who gives honor to an upright man, in the name of an upright man, will be given an upright man’s reward.
42: And whoever gives to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he will not go without his reward.
Raising support is unique to faith missions like TFC. Through a process called “deputation” missionaries identify churches and individuals who pledge a certain amount of money to cover their salary and the expenses related to their ministry work. This money is called “support”; those who pledge are known as “supporters. Supporters support a TFC staff person when they give support!
TFC staff do get salaries, but their salaries come from TFC through the support they raise. TFC does not have enough income to underwrite the staff’s work of reaching teenagers. Before going on the field, each staff builds a team of senders who commit to prayer and other types of involvement as well as funds.
Although a certain amount of money is pledged, our staff still go to the field on faith, knowing that the gifts will only come as God provides. TFC does not guarantee their salary.
Only about two thirds of the TFC’s support package is salary. The rest covers items an employer usually funds: insurance, equipment, work-related travel, retirement and other expenses.
Yes! The vast majority of ministries like TFC are scrupulously honest and eager to see your contributions benefit the person you designate. Our books are regularly reviewed by the TFC board. A local accounting firm annually audits our books. One hundred per cent of your contributions go to a staff person you designate.
Yes.
1. Regular support: Monthly, quarterly or annual support contributions (which are tax deductible) cover our staff’s basic living and ministry expenses.
2. One-time gifts: These tax-deductible contributions cover unexpected financial needs.
3. Project gifts: Projects may include anything from a camcorder, a car, or a computer. Project donations are also tax deductible.
4. Personal gifts: Cash gifts for birthday, Christmas, a new baby, or just “something extra” are over and above regular support. We suggest that you give the TFC Staff person those kinds of gifts directly since they are NOT tax deductible.
Complete and return the downloadable form, or drop a note to the staff person you wish to support of the amount you are pledging. If you download the form, print it off, fill it out and then mail it to the address at the bottom of the page.
No. Your promise of support is a commitment before God to give as He provides. If circumstances make it impossible for you to fulfill your support pledge, our staff know God will provide for them in other ways.
Notify the staff person immediately; it will encourage them and help define how much more support must be raised.
The length of your commitment is between you, the staff person and God. It could be one year or indefinitely unless you advise them differently. If extenuating circumstances make it necessary for you to reduce or stop support, please inform your TFC staff missionary, giving them as much advance notice as possible.
